Like as a reminder the last book I did a WIR of, Aloysius' guide to social acceptance, had like 30 or so races in it, this has over 200 (and that isn't even counting subraces and variant, which there are also plenty of). The main goal of the book was to give players more racial options than any other book in history. Hence why the book has a mix of stuff like traditional DnD races like elves and dwarves alongside stuff like puppets, clowns, robots, and hand centaurs and fish with mushrooms growing out of their heads. Then we get an introduction page where we get the history of Arcana, its start as a card game, and the thought process behind the book: First that its easier to get people into RPG's with lighter rules that are less restrictive, and that younger players will want races based on modern pop culture, video games, movies, tv shows, podcasts, Youtube and so forth. And how this is a very personal project to him and he hopes that people enjoy it. We actually begin with a preface from Matt where he talks about how much he loves crossovers and how fantasy and sci fi have changed from the days of Lord of the Rings, Star Wars and DnD, thanks to things like Adventure Time, Perdito street station, and Guardians of the Galaxy. And had two sets before the author Matt Knicl decided to try his hand at a full book.
